YOCNE Founder and Artistic Director Marie Stultzconducts. Daniel Helfgot is stage director.

Since founding YOCNE in 2005, Stultz has led productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors, Brundibar, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Mikado, along with side projects by the Young Classical Singers, the choral component of YOCNE.

The Preparatory School piano department launches a performance tour to Austria and Hungary with a concert by 11 piano students who are participating in the tour, ranging in age from 13 to 18.

Tonight's program, replicating music the students will perform in Europe, includes works for solo piano by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Haydn, Liszt, and Prokofiev.

The tour is led by Prep piano chair Marilyn Roth, and will include an exchange with piano students at the Musikschule Margareten in Vienna, and performances in Vienna and Budapest.

Born in the province of Vera Cruz, Mexico, Zaira Meneses began musical studies at the age of 7. Her unique talents led to participation in the chamber choir of the IPE conducted by Ana Elgarte and Jose Antonio Perez. She soon revealed an extraordinary double talent as singer and guitarist, and during her years of guitar study, she was the recipient of numerous prizes for guitar performances both nationally and internationally.

Come celebrate the 2010 Boston Guitar Festwith a performance by the Miscelánea Quartet.

Having graduated with their degrees in music from Greece and Spain, guitarists Kostas Tosidis, Giorgos Pervolarakis, Tanausú Luis Diaz, and Alejandro Díaz Bandrés met at the Universitaet Mozarteum Salzburg in Austria. Their strong impulse to engage directly with audiences, in harmony with the creative atmosphere of the university, led them to form the Miscelánea Guitar Quartet in April 2007. Since then, the Quartet has received constant guidance and support from renowned musicians such as Eliot Fisk, Maria-Isabel Siewers de Pazur, Marco Tamayo, Ricardo Gallen,Mathias Seidel, Simone Fontanelli and Martin Mumelter.

At New England Conservatory, jazz runs hot in young musicians' veins. It means the blaze of improvisation and individual creativity, the warmth of interaction in small ensembles. Experimentation is encouraged. And that's cool!

This tradition goes back 40 years, when NEC launched the first fully accredited jazz studies program at a music conservatory. In celebrating the 40th anniversary of this creative first, NEC dips into the past, present, and future with a night at Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles. Similar dates set jazz clubs ablaze in Boston and in New York earlier this season, leading to an Examiner headline stating that NEC is "shaping New York's music scene."

With KKJZ radio host LeRoy Downs, The Jazzcat, as master of ceremonies, tonight's performers are a who's who of jazz innovators among NEC's LA-based alumni, includingKevin Abdella, Kathryn Bostic, George Brooks, Jimmy Earl, Moses Eder, Joseph Howell, Gabriel Johnson, Roger Kellaway, Sara Leib, Tom Regis. Kellaway was an honorary Doctor of Music recipient at NEC's commencement, May 23.

Catalina Jazz Club is located at 6725 West Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. In addition to the $15 ticket price, purchase of dinner or two drinks minimum per person is required in addition to the tickets. Doors open for dinner at 6:30pm.
